This morning I woke up early and drove with my dad to Greenwood Fellowship, where a business breakfast called Culture Is What You're Really Leading was hosted by Denver Institute, Thrivent, and Barna. This event was about how to help your workplace and company thrive and grow to its full extent. At first, they talked about some statistics that, honestly, went over my head, but the big picture was that around 70%-ish of practicing Christians liked their job, 60%-ish of non-practicing Christians liked their jobs, and it was about a 50/50 chance that non-Christians liked their job. Sounds great, right? Well, in another data point, they said that 52% of everybody was willing to leave their job... so people liked their job but were willing to leave? Why? That leads us to the really juicy part of the event. They started talking about "Culture," the culture of your workspace, how you feel going to work. Are you excited, happy? Or do you dread it? Are you sad you have to go to work because the environment doesn't feel good? Because you feel lonely? Stressed? Well, the culture has something to do with that, which leads back to the name of this event, Culture Is What You're Really Leading. If you own a business, then what you really want is for your employees to be happy and willing to work, because if they want to work, then they get work done and your business can thrive! If not, people do the bare minimum, sometimes less, and what your business needs to thrive will not happen. So leading a good productive culture is going to be your top priority. Well, now the question is, how do I have/lead a good culture for my employees? Good question, glad you asked... the answer is pretty simple: just use this hierarchy of needs chart!!!
