The House Of Harriet Beecher Stowe

After we left the Underground Railroad Museum, my mom and I went to the Harriet Beecher Stowe House. It was the house she lived in for a few years that inspired her most famous novel called Uncle Tom's Cabin. There we learned about the Green Book. The Green Book is a travel book for black people that lists all the safe places to go for gas, hotels, shopping, restaurants, etc., so they would not get harassed.

This is a quote from Harriet about how everyone should be talking about injustices such as racism. This is really important because in her time it was thought that women and children should be seen and not heard.

Enough people didn't believe that slavery was as bad as she depicted it in her book so she came out with another book including all her foot notes and people her book was based on to prove that slavery was a really horrible thing.
