What's the difference between diffusion and osmosis? Good question, glad you asked... Diffusion is when molecules move from places with high concentration to places with low concentration. Osmosis is the opposite! When molecules move from places with low concentration to places with high concentration. An example of this is when you take a potato, and cut it into thin one inch squares, then dissolve salt into water, sugar into a different water glass, and fresh water in a third glass. Soak the potatoes for 30 minutes. Take a break and make a blog post! Then after the 30 minutes, the sugar should stay the same, and salt potatoes should have become smaller, or shrunk! The fresh water should have swelled, or become bigger.
