Animal Farm

Four days after Master Napoleon said Snowball destroyed the windmill, he called all of the animals to the yard to talk to them. My siblings and I were surrounding him, trying to be the best at keeping the other animals from touching him. Master Napoleon told us when we were young that our mother was going to eat us and that he saved us from her, he told me and my eight sisters and brothers that he was going to raise us to be the protectors of animal dignity and law, that we would be looked up to as the second strongest animals on the whole farm. He called us his Chiens De Garde! As we were walking out of the farmhouse I could see a large crowd of animals, sheep, cows, goats, chickens and more, their murmurs started to die out when we approached the special area Master was going to talk on. We walked around Master growling because he said the animals liked it, they all shivered and grouped closer together. As planned, Master made a high-pitched whimper so the Chiens De Garde grabbed the four little pigs he said wanted to play dead. They thrashed and screamed like Master said they would. This is a fun game, Master Napoleon loves to play games, we also played tag with Snowball before he had to leave. We grabbed the pigs by their ears with our teeth and brought them up to Master, our teeth pierced their ears, and I felt a warm tasty thing enter my mouth. All of a sudden Normal in head got attacked by Wild in head. Wild tasted blood. Wild want blood. Wild see blood creature. Wild need blood creature blood. Wild attack. BAM! Wild get stopped by giant, hard feeling in chest, hard feeling on back, pressure on chest. Wild hurt. Wild see Normal.
“WILD NEED NORMAL HELP!” Wild said desperately.
Normal took over. The pain in my chest kept getting harder and harder then the giant horse looked at Master and let his hoof off my chest, I bolted up and rushed over to Master whimpering and bruised. Master said that Wild was good, he said that Wild helped Master and did not hurt. That was not a part of the game Master had planned out, but he did not notice because the four pigs were in front of him trembling. “Admit your crimes!” Master Napoleon cried out to the pigs. “Admit that you were in touch with Snowball after his expulsion! That you helped him destroy the windmill!” The pigs quickly explained everything and added on how Snowball had admitted that he was Mr. Jones' secret agent in the past, before the revolution. I don't remember Master ever saying that this is how the game went, but I was ready for what was next. Master said that when the pigs stop talking the Chiens should bite their throats, and whip our heads around. I trotted up to the pig and did what Master told me and my siblings to do. Normal felt Wild starting to stir. Wild came back. Wild rip and tear. Wild want more. Wild see Master call up more animals. Wild see three hens. Wild shred three hens. Wild ravage goose, three sheep, and more. Wild keep getting more and more. Wild see no more come. Normal comes back. Why does that keep happening? I thought. Master never said that there would be more than the pigs, he never told us that lots of animals would want to participate in this game. Why is Wild doing all this?. It made me wonder why Wild went crazy, is it supposed to be like this? All the farm animals looked confused and scared as they walked away huddled together towards the broken windmill.
Master Napoleon looked lovingly at the Chiens De Garde, “All of you little pups did a wonderful job today, there will be more playtime in the future!” I wagged my tail. “Why did these animals not get up and go with the rest of the animals, who were watching?” One of my siblings asked (sounded like Breaker, the youngest). Master eyed Breaker with a thoughtful look before responding, “These animals are…still playing…they need to be put in a certain…place before they…wake up. Take them to the gate and some humans will pick them up so they can stop playing.” Immediately we all rush to grab the playing dead animals and drag them to the gate, whenever Master says to do something we have to do it or he will hurt us like we deserve. Once we finished putting the animals at the gate we all ran over to surround Master in the farmhouse, or as Master Napoleon likes to call it, the Grand Castle. My eight siblings and I all try to impress him and show him we love him by standing near him, and growling when anyone comes near, he says that's how animals show love to one another in the farm. “Ripper and Beast!” Napoleon called out from his room, my sister and I got up and walked in curious. “Squealer needs you to go and talk to the animals about that blasted song, Beasts of England. We have a new one now.” “Yes Sir!” Beast and I replied. Squealer-who was right next to Master-smiled and said, “Great, now let’s go. I believe they are on the hill by the windmill.” His fat little bottom jiggled as he walked past us and into the open, we walked forward with pride as the rest of our siblings looked up at us from the ground disappointment written on their faces, we have a job and they don’t! As we approached the hill we could hear the animals singing Beasts of England, isn't that the song Master doesn't like anymore? “Dumb animals, don't they know the revolution is over?” Squealer muttered under his breath, Beast looked at me with an eyebrow raised, she heard too. The animals stopped singing as we arrived, Squealer looked as if he had something very important to say. “By a special decree of Comrade Napoleon, Beasts of England is now abolished, from now on it is forbidden to sing it.” The crowd of animals looked taken back as they muttered their confusion, “Why?” cried Muriel. “It’s no longer needed, comrade,” said Squealier stiffly. “Beasts of England was the song of the Rebellion. But the Rebellion is now completed. The execution of the traitors this afternoon was the final act…” Squealer continued talking but I stopped listening after the word ‘execution’. I don't know this word but for some reason it stuck with me-like a tic that grew on my skin-it would not go away. I am pretty sure he was talking about the game we played earlier in the day, but I've never heard my beloved Master Napoleon ever say that word, maybe Squealer was talking about the animals playing dead. That's what ‘execution’ meant! It means to play a ‘play dead’ game! I almost jumped, because the sheep suddenly started chanting “Four legs good, two legs bad!” at the top of their lungs. I glanced over at my sister Beast, she looked at me normally, like the sheep always chant like this after announcements of change. We walked back to the farmhouse a little slower than walking up to the hill, Squealer seemed smugly content about something, I was going to ask what he was thinking about, but then I remembered Master Napoleon once told us how the pigs don't like getting asked questions so I kept quiet.
The next few days were pretty uneventful but I felt that there was something weird about the animals, like something bothered them. I asked my brother Butcher about it but he said to shut up, be normal, and to go away, he said that I was just imagining things. So I asked Brutus-my more sensitive brother-if there was anything wrong, he said that the animals were just thinking about the new game we played a few days ago, since it was new they were a little terrified. Brutus told me that Master said to him that the animals will get used to it once we start to play it more. That made sense, so I forgot about it until my nightly Walk Around. During a normal Walk Around, Master says that to win the game I have to stay completely silent, listen, and watch what the animals are doing. Whoever hears or sees the most interesting thing gets a bigger dinner that night. If an animal sees us we immediately lose and have to bring the animal to Master and get punished, fortunately none of my siblings or I have ever let that happen, Master trained us well. Three days after we played the new game I was walking around the big barn playing Walk Around and I smelled an animal near the Seven Commandments. I crept closer, careful to not make a sound and alert them that I was near. As I got closer I realized it was Clover who was looking at the wall, she was squinting and turning her head every which way. The look on her face resembled a dumb, confused sheep trying to puzzle out something. “I thought killing another animal was not permitted…” She mumbled to herself. “I wish I could read, it would really help my confusion right now. I know! I'll go get Benjamin to read it to me” Clover walked off, but I had a feeling I should stay and watch what happens next. What does she mean by ‘killing’? Clover quickly came back-but not with Benjamin-it was Muriel who was there and read the sixth commandment to her. “No animal shall kill any other animal without cause,” “Huh…” Clover mused, “Those last two words seemed to slip my mind,” she said baffled. “Yes,” Muriel replied, “I don't remember them either, but then again, I am getting older. I must have forgotten the last two words because maybe they seemed unimportant,” Muriel turned her head over towards Clover, “Our mind can do that sometimes,” she chuckled sadly. Muriel shook her head and walked away. Clover stood there examining the wall one last time, huffed, and walked off to be with the other animals. I got excited, this was definitely interesting enough to tell Master Napoleon and get more dinner!
Ripper, Breaker, Beast ,Blaze, Bloodfang, Brutus, Butcher, Blade, Bonecrusher are all of Napoleon's dogs names I made up.
